The Church will be closed until further notice

The Church of England has suspended public worship until further notice – in line with other precautions nationally, to slow the progress of infection to protect the most vulnerable. But the Church is the Body of Christ, and God’s believing and praying people continue their work.

Telephone Prayer Network If you’d like someone to chat and pray with you on the phone (just a little chat and some short prayers for ourselves and our world), or if you’d like to be remembered in the daily prayers in church please phone.

Isolated and without help? If you don’t know where to turn please call us and if St Matthew’s can help, we will.

Each Week we will publish a simple Service Sheet with readings and Prayers here, together with a selection of appropriate Hymns and any other notices that are required

We will continue our usual weekly e’mail newssheet to help every one keep in touch with activities at St. Matthews.  You can also keep in touch with or Facebook page. We will also be preparing a Sunday School Activity pack.

WELCOME

29th March, With Church closed we had a successful prayer meeting by Voice conference at 10:30 on Sunday.

7th March The Church published details of a Whatsapp group for the congregation.

24th March In the light of Government instructions on Self Isolation the Church and Church are closed completely until further notice

20th March We reluctantly  decided that with the increasing need for self isolation we should cancel the delivery of Easter cards this year.

20th March Following a further request from the Church of England there will be no further services at St. Matthews, but the Church will be open for private prayer every day from 9sam to 11am and on Thursday evenings from 6pm to 8pm

17th March The Archbishops of Canterbury and York are calling for Church of England churches to put public worship on hold and become a “different sort of church” in the coming months to face the challenge of coronavirus.  A copy of their Press release is here
