STOP PRESS, we have decided to extend the Messy Church sessions by one week so they now start on the 24th July and run until 28th August.

5th July

The combined efforts of St. Matthews, Perry Beeches Baptist and Perry Beeches Evangelical Churches raised over £1,500 for Christian Aid week.

5th July

St. Matthew’s has confirmed it’s commitment to the Ecology by successfully Applying for an ECO Church Certificate.  At the moment we have achieved Bronze level, so further work is required to upgrade this.

Last Saturday’s Skittles went very well, with over 50 people having a very enjoyable time and raising £267.12 for Christian Aid.

We received a copy of the Service sheet for Don Beach’s funeral in Australia.  Don was a leading member of the church, particularly in Music before emigrated to Australia with his wife Erica in 2001.  A copy of his funeral service is here, and some photos of Don and Erica’s farewell party are here

Hallelujah the Bell is fixed!  And on Ascension Day.  Thanks to Supaseal next door to the church  the Bells fixings have been re-attached and greased.  Here’s hoping it lasts another 55 years.  While up there Paul from Supaseal took the opportunity to take some unusual photos of the church, which are here.

Last weekend’s Gardening Party was a great success, with the hedge looking a lot tidier now, thanks to all who attended.

The Beetle drive held last Saturday was a great success and Raised £180 for Christian Aid.  Great Thanks to Chris's Fish and Chips on the Aldridge Road for an excellent Fish and Chip Supper.

Last weeks AGM was well attended.  David Gadd stood down as Churchwarden after long and successful service, and a new Churchwarden, Janet Cook, was elected.  A new PCC was also elected. The Churches Annual Accounts, the Trustees Report and the reports of various church activities were presented. The accounts can be seen here, and the reports here.

If you haven’t woken up early enough to get to church recently it may be because the Church Bell, after 54 years of service has decided to take a rest and come away from the church wall.  We are investigating solutions, in the mean time the bell will be silent.

Over 50 children and there carers came along to a half term Messy Church on the theme of Illusion.  A few photos are here.
